Ingate Systems Introduces IX78 E-SBC for SIP Trunking

Accelerating Service Provider Deployments

STOCKHOLM – October,26, 2009 –October 26, 2009 - Ingate® Systemsa leading provider of enterprise session border controllers that enable SIP communications such as SIP trunking and Unified Communications beyond the protected enterprise network, introduces the IX78 Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) from sister company Intertex Data AB. The IX78 E-SBC is a security edge device designed to enable and accelerate service providers’ large-scale SIP trunk services.

The IX78 E-SBC simplifies and speeds up carrier deployments of SIP trunks by solving the NAT and firewall traversal problem and interoperability issues between the service provider and the very many SIP-enabled PBXs on the market. It allows the service provider to deploy SIP trunks either over the Internet or via dedicated IP connections. Customer installations with separate PBX telephony systems as well as Unified Communication IP-PBXs on a common VoIP and data network are directly supported.

The IX78 E-SBC normalizes the SIP signaling between the SIP trunk service and the SIP enabled PBXs, allowing service providers to directly benefit from Ingate’s long list of interoperable PBXs. Thus, the service provider is freed from the extensive and time-consuming interoperability testing and the discovery that only a limited number of PBXs and customer scenarios can be supported.

“Rather than offering a limited service offering after long and expensive PBX testing, with Ingate, service providers can deliver seamless, secure SIP trunks to a much larger number of customers – immediately,” said Steven Johnson, President, Ingate Systems. “Service providers are offering SIP trunks to increase ROI on VoIP installations, quickly. The IX78 E-SBC offers them a cost-effective solution designed specifically for these kinds of mass deployments.”

The IX78 E-SBC is a plug-and-play device with provisioning tools, management and support capabilities adapted to the carrier’s service, providing them with a solution that is easy to deploy and requires minimal ongoing maintenance from the ITSP.

Designed for Mass Deployments
The IX78 E-SBC can handle up to 50 concurrent calls over the SIP trunk based on licenses installed. It can be used in parallel with the customer’s existing firewall (as an Ingate SIParator®) or as the full SMB firewall/router for both VoIP and data. The IX78 E-SBC prioritizes voice over data traffic to ensure Quality of Service. It connects to the WAN via ethernet or a built-in ADSL 2+ AnnexA/M modem. The IX78 E-SBC can also be used for hosted VoIP services utilizing the full potential of SIP devices on the LAN, supporting video, presence and Instant Messaging in addition to traditional telephony.

The Ingate Advantage for Service Providers
Ingate’s edge devices allow for a secure, simplified adoption of SIP trunks by solving interoperability issues and the SIP NAT/firewall traversal problem. They form a demarcation point for the service provider’s network, allowing the ITSP to easily connect to virtually any SIP enabled PBX on the market in a variety of installation scenarios at the enterprise site.

The IX78 E-SBC offers extensive provisioning, monitoring and management capabilities so the service provider can efficiently control and support the customer installation. This includes logging, resolving interoperability issues, system maintenance, as well as reporting jitter, MOS value and other call quality statistics.

The IX78 E-SBC features Ingate's SIP proxy architecture that dynamically controls the built in NAT and firewall engine, which delivers maximum control over SIP signaling, traffic and network security, creating one truly converged network for both data and VoIP

The IX78 E-SBC is available now.
